Jeffrey’s Bay is on the East Coast of South Africa, 80 km west of Port Elizabeth, and approximately 700 km east of Cape Town.  It is a small seaside town that has become popular due to its excellent surf conditions and breaks.  In summer when the surf is not at its best, the sunshine draws visitors to enjoy the golden beaches and the many outdoor adventures in the area.

Our school is situated across the road from the beach front, a double story house that gives the best views of the ocean from the student common room.  Occasionally when a pod of dolphin is in sight, students and teachers can be seen careering down to the beach to get a close encounter.  We enjoy being spontaneous, doing what you will remember and giving you lots of stories to take home and share with family and friends.

Our English Language courses cover all levels, from beginner to advanced.  Each class is no more than 8 students, facilitated by professionally trained teachers in foreign language education.  We follow the British English curriculum and also offer CAE and FCE preparation. On the social level J-bay Language School has an awesome menu of adventure, relaxation, culture and cuisine to keep everyone happy.  Surfing is tantamount to the area of course and we cater for total beginners who want to test out their interest, to the more advanced who have come to Jbay as a once in a life time dream.  ‘English plus Surf’ packages can be found on the packages page.

As part of our cultural education, we encourage you to visit Tokyo Sexwale township.  Our personal guide leads you through an account of apartheid and how it affected the majority of people living in SA.  Being a resident of the township, his story is first hand.  He will take you to meet friends, enjoy a drink in a local tavern, play with kids in a school or merely walk around and gather a visual impression.  For those of you who want more, volunteer programmes are in place; these too can be coupled with your English study.

Your accommodation in Jeffreys Bay is also a variety of choice.  We have our own student residence, in the same road as the school and thus an easy option with regards to accessibility.  The resident house is a group of apartments, each one having its own kitchen, lounge and bathroom shared between 2, 3 or 4 students.  Rooms can either be single or shared.  Host families in JBay have also opened their homes to students giving you a real life experience of what it would be like to be South African! Lastly, Island Vibe Surf Camp and Backpackers is a right on the beach and also in the same road as the school.  Rooms range from dorms to private en suite and luxury en suite.  Island Vibe has a restaurant and bar available for students in the residence too.  Both these establishments offer WiFi internet connection.
